On the 1st of August, 2023, the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) officially announced, following a vote by its Initial Accreditation Committee (IAC) and approval by the Board of Directors, that the Business School of Central South University has achieved AACSB international accreditation with a five-year term. Founded in 1916, AACSB is the longest-serving global accrediting body for business schools, and the largest business education network connecting learners, educators, and businesses worldwide. Its aim is to collectively enhance the quality of business education and promote social prosperity and development.
AACSB accreditation is widely regarded as one of the most prestigious accreditation bodies in business education, with only 6% of business schools worldwide having obtained this accreditation. The Business School of Central South University obtained the qualification of AACSB accreditation in 2017 and formally launched the accreditation process. The School convened two strategic committee meetings to discuss its mission and strategic direction, using the mission as a driving force for top-level design in areas such as talent development, scientific research, and community service, continuously development and enhancing to meet on-site accreditation standards.
From the 7th of May to the 10th of May, 2023, the PRT comprising Professor Yan Xiangbin, Vice President of the University of Science and Technology Beijing, as the chair, along with Professor Ian Fenwick from Chulalongkorn University Sasin School of Management and Professor Chen Hongji from the College of Management Tunghai University, visited our school for a four-day on-site review. During the visit, the PRT engaged in comprehensive and in-depth discussions with various stakeholders, including Academician Li Jiancheng, President of Central South University, Deputy Secretary of the School Party Committee of CPC Jiang Jianxiang, Deputy President Li Zhihong, the school leadership, administration teams of degree programs, faculty and student representatives, and alumni representatives. They conducted rigorous evaluation on various aspects of the School, including strategic planning, talent development, faculty development, research capabilities, internationalization level, and social service, and expressed their full recognition of the achievements made by the School.
"AACSB accreditation recognizes institutions that have demonstrated a focus on excellence in all areas, including teaching, research, curriculum development, and student learning." stated Stephanie M. Bryant, Executive Vice President and Chief Accreditation Officer of AACSB, in her letter, "We congratulate Central South University and Dean Yanping Gong on earning accreditation and applaud the entire Business School team-including the administration, faculty, staff, and students-for their roles in earning this respected honor."
In the future, the Business School of Central South University will uphold the values of " Knowledge serves the society, Fortune favors the diligent", continuing to steadily move forward to internationalization. The School will consistently enhance its international reputation, providing faculty and students with higher quality educational resources and a global platform for academic exchange, to become an outstanding business school with a great impact.
